A pick of the best homes with green credentials

With rising energy bills at the forefront of public consciousness, sustainability continues to be a priority for homebuyers and renters alike.

Energy Performance Certificates provide an indication of a property’s green credentials, with those rated A to C the most efficient.

Whether retrofitting existing homes or building new homes with the environment and energy performance in mind, consideration is now being given to everything from design and material choices, through to double glazing, insulation, low-energy appliances and lighting.

Eco-friendly features such as heat pumps, solar panels and green roofs are also increasingly common. Outside the home, attention has turned to electric vehicle charging points, harvesting rainwater and creating rich habitats for wildlife.

From an A-rated family home within the South Downs National Park to a passive house in Cornwall, featured below is a selection of sustainable homes currently on the market.
