Leading accountancy firm agrees pre-let at Valeo’s 35 Newhall Street, Birmingham

National accountancy, tax and advisory firm MHA have agreed a pre-let at Valeo Capital’s 35 Newhall Street, relocating its Birmingham headquarters to the redeveloped building early next year.

The firm, which recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, has signed a 10-year lease for the entire ground floor. This agreement marks a key milestone in the transformation of 35 Newhall Street.

Located in the heart of Birmingham’s central business district, 35 Newhall Street is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment to deliver approximately 55,000 sq ft of best-in-class, sustainable, and wellness-focused office space. The project includes a complete re-cladding of the façade and a full interior refurbishment to create a modern, energy-efficient workspace with state-of-the-art amenities.

A standout feature of the redevelopment will be a communal roof terrace and garden adjoining a shared tenant lounge, offering panoramic views across the city’s business district. Designed to promote wellbeing and collaboration, the building will combine sustainability with functionality. By retaining and upgrading the existing structure, the project achieves substantial embodied carbon savings compared to a new build and is targeting EPC A and BREEAM Excellent ratings.

MHA’s pre-let commitment during refurbishment underscores its continued expansion in Birmingham and its focus on providing a first-class working environment for its people and clients. The new headquarters continue to place the firm in a prime, amenity-rich location at the centre of the city’s Colmore Business District.

Chris Barlow, Chief Operating Officer of MHA’s Midlands’ region and Partner at the firm’s Birmingham office, says: “Our new office move marks an exciting milestone in our continued growth across the Midlands. As our presence in the region has expanded and having made a number of key senior appointments following the recruitment of John Bryant as Corporate Finance Partner and Steve Hale as Audit and Assurance Partner, so too has the need for a space that better supports our teams and is fit for our ambitious plans for 2026 and beyond.

“This new location has been shaped around the way our people work, with collaboration, comfort and wellbeing at its heart and is a true reflection of our People First approach.”

Ben Thacker, Director, Office Agency at Savills Birmingham advised MHA and, comments: “This pre-commitment to a high profile new development highlights the strong demand for centrally located, high-quality office space at a time of rapidly declining office supply in the established CBD. Birmingham continues to retain its status as the UK’s second city, with a thriving business community. Securing prime Grade A space amid constrained supply highlights how proactive occupiers, like MHA, are planning ahead to ensure that they secure best-in-class solutions.”

Matt Doyle of Valeo Capital, added,We are delighted to welcome MHA to 35 Newhall Street. The building embodies Valeo’s commitment to creating best-in-class, sustainable, and wellness-focused office environments that inspire productivity and community among occupiers.”

Savills Birmingham advised MHA and Knight Frank acted on behalf of Valeo Capital.
