Moving forward: What’s ahead for the prime UK housing market?

With spring fast approaching, buyers and sellers alike may wonder how the prime UK housing market will continue to change in 2021. On 17 March 2021, our panel of Savills experts led a webinar and Q&A to discuss:

  • Our latest buyer and seller survey results, including how the vaccination programme has affected consumer confidence and the appetite to move
  • The impact of the Chancellor’s Budget and the effect of transaction tax changes on the residential property market
  • Our new forecasts for 2021 and beyond as restrictions ease, as set out in the recent roadmap by the UK government

We had a record turn out and we hope many of you feel more informed when making property decisions—whether that’s knowing if you should sell your home or if it’s a good time to find a new place to rent.

Speaking of which, we polled our audience to ask whether they thought they should buy, hold or sell residential property. For London, only 35% said it was a buyer’s market compared to 49% for outside the capital. Instead, half said it was the best time to hold onto London property.

We hope you enjoy listening to this presentation. If you would like to be invited to future events and webinars, please subscribe to our weekly residential newsletters.
