Although prices on the coast have softened in recent years, Savills latest research has found the cost of buying a home by the sea still comes at a premium – with second-hand homes within 100 metres of the coast costing an average of 14% more than those 1km inland. Front-line positions with direct views of the water can often be considerably more.
