A pick of the best properties on Guernsey's Open Market

If you’re considering a move to Guernsey then it’s important to know that the island has two distinct property markets – Local and Open.

The Open Market emerged after the Second World War when Guernsey’s lawmakers tried to protect the interests of local residents while still encouraging people to relocate to the island.

Anyone who holds a British or Irish passport or who has the right to live in the UK can buy or rent an Open Market property. There are no wealth tests or assessments and no need for an employment permit.

Today there are around 1,600 Open Market properties in Guernsey – roughly 10% of the island’s entire housing stock.

Guernsey’s attractive lifestyle, strong sense of community, favourable tax regime and growing reputation as a safe harbour for business make the island a popular choice for many buyers looking to relocate from the UK and elsewhere.

If you are thinking about a move, we’ve selected a few of our favourite Open Market properties currently for sale.
